"Diet" Products Can Make You Fat, Study Shows
May 2017 - ATHENS, GA - High-fat foods are often the primary target when fighting obesity, but sugar-laden "diet" foods could be contributing to unwanted weight gain as well, according to a new study from the University of Georgia. Researchers found that rats fed a diet high in sugar but low in fat, meant to imitate many popular diet foods, increased body fat mass when compared to rats fed a balanced rodent diet. The high-sugar diet induced a host of other problems, including liver damage and brain inflammation. Read Article...

2008 U.S. Health Club Revenues Total $19.1 billion, up 3%
April 2009 - BOSTON, MA - The International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) announced today that industry revenues reached $19.1 billion in 2008, an increase of three percent over 2007. IHRSA reports that the number of health clubs increased by one percent in 2008, totaling 30,022 facilities in the United States. Additionally, the results of IHRSA's annual health club membership survey indicate that health club memberships in the Unites States totaled 45.5 million in 2008. Read Article...
200th Participant Enrolled in Precision Medicine Program for ALS
September 2015 - CAMBRIDGE, MA - The ALS Therapy Development Institute announced that it has enrolled the 200th participant in its Precision Medicine Program (PMP). This program is the first of its kind to be created for ALS and includes multiple aspects unique to the field of precision medicine specifically aimed to discover and develop treatments for ALS. This milestone meets two thirds of the program's goal for enrollment of 300 participants, which was made possible by the donations received from the 2014 social media phenomenon, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
